About the Academy
The Academy @ FTM is a unique London-based hub for education and professional development within the fashion industries. It offers a wide-reaching education programme for school, college and university students, and an innovative business support programme for companies operating in the fashion sector. And we're constantly developing too - responding to the changing skills needs of the industry.
As part of Newham College, the Academy has access to high quality educational resources including professional staff with real industry know-how. We've also developed great links to key industry organisations, businesses and practitioners, along with other specialist training providers and business support organisations. All of which means we're a one-stop shop for education, skills and development programmes which meet the specific needs of the fast-moving fashion industry - and the people who work in it.
We've got some great facilities, including modern, fully-equipped fashion and garment production workshops, and dedicated learning centres and computer suites equipped with the latest industry CAD/CAM software. Our programmes are further enriched by the excellent resources of the exhibitions programme and the archive at the Fashion and Textile Museum.
Newham College has won several awards for its enterprising approach and quality of service, including a Beacon Award from the Learning & Skills Council for exemplary teaching practice, and a Heist Award for our work with the local apparel industry.
