The Joy of Stitch - Hand Embroidery Class - 4 February 2012
Back by popular demand. Discover the art of hand embroidery with textile illustrator Naomi Ryder. ‘Hand stitching can be relaxing as well as fun and I will be happy to share my passion with you’. During this workshop you will be taught traditional hand stitching techniques. All participants will have access to view the Catwalk to Cover exhibition and be inspired by images from the exhibition.
Naomi Ryder is a textile illustrator who loves working with embroidery. She is based at Cockpit Arts and has been commissioned by shops including Southbank Centre and Mary Portas shop in House of Fraser. more
Couture Inside Out - 8 February 2012
Join Curator Dennis Nothdruft for an up-close and intimate look at key highlights from the Fashion and Textile Museum Collection. A rare opportunity to view the ins and outs of couture construction. Participants will have the opportunity to examine the internal structure and sewing techniques of couture garments from Dior, Chanel and Balenciaga. more
Lino Lovers - Lino Printing Workshop with Maria Cooper
In these workshops Maria will teach you how to produce a square Lino block ready for printing onto paper and a two-colour design for a T-shirt or bag. Maria Cooper is a printed Textile designer who is crazy about all surface pattern. She is a Royal College of Art graduate and currently works for Zandra Rhodes. more
Flock & Foil - Textile Printing Workshop - 18 February 2012
Join textile artists Jen Rowland and Naomi Ryder for and introduction to foiling and flocking. This is unique opportunity to create your own product with successful designer makers. During this workshop you will learn how to use a heat press and will experiment with techniques such as foil and flock printing. With your samples created on this short course you will be able to print a bag or complete textiles art to take home with you. more
