Free Easter Holiday fashion courses for 16-18 year olds.

The FTM has a programme of two-day courses over the Easter period to inspire a new generation of young creatives.

The courses are completely free - and materials and a light lunch will be provided. more

Very Sanderson - Curator's Lecture and Book Signing - 26 March 2010

Very Sanderson has been curated by academic and textile authority Mary Schoeser and at this talk she will be sharing her insights into the exhibition, the history of Sanderson and its place in the history of interiors.

The exhibition is also accompanied by a lavishly illustrated book published by Thames & Hudson which Mary has edited and she will also be signing copies on the night. more

The Wool Pack - beginners knitting course - 13 April 2010

This six week course is aimed at someone who has very little or no knitting understanding and has always wanted to learn the lovely art of knitting. The course aims to teach you the basic techniques and stitches required to knit whilst learning in a relaxed environment.

The teachers has prepared some easy to knit projects which the student can choose to knit in class with the teacher's guidance. The aim of the project is to allow you to practice the basic knitting you have just learned, read a basic knit pattern and complete the course with something you can use or wear. more

The Wool Pack Knitting Club (Intermediate / Advanced knitters) - 14 April 2010

Every wednesday for six weeks, 6.30pm - 9pm

This six week course is for those who already have a sound understanding and practical ability to knit / crochet basic stitches, cast on and off and would like to take those basic knitting /crochet skills to the next level. Or perhaps you just enjoy knitting / crocheting in a friendly, enjoyable and relaxed environment with others in the group who want to achieve the same thing.
During the six weeks you will work on your chosen project at your own pace in the class with an experienced teacher to help guide / assist you with any knitting / crochet issues you may have.  more

Corsage workshop - 17 April 2010

Mary Jane Baxter has run a number of millinery workshops at the FTM - here she returns will a new twist on her skills to show you how to make a wonderful floral corsage. You'll learn different techniques for creating a show-stopping fabric accessory adorned with sequins and beads. Not only will it give a new lease of life to any outfit, it will ensure you're the belle of the ball! All materials will be provided, but if you wish to incorporate fabrics of your own then please bring them along to the workshop. more

Advanced Handbag Design course - 24 April 2010

15 hours tuition over three Saturdays:  24th April, 1st May, 15th May

Even in the current economic climate, the accessories market is still a growth area. Many of the leading fashion design companies make more money from their accessory ranges than they do from their clothing and as new markets open up, this trend promises to increase. 

This course is for students who already have a basic knowledge of handbag design. Who have the ability to sketch their ideas and designs and may be  thinking of starting their own company. more

Print and pattern trends 2011 - from Sanderson to the high street - 29 April 2010

Print is one of the key factors to define seasonal looks in commercial fashion. Find out how influences from the Very Sanderson exhibition are likely to infiltrate into the high street in 12-18 months time. Jaana Jätyri, CEO of leading trend agency Trendstop.com presents professional trend analysis for spring/summer 2011 print and pattern, and discusses trend prediction themes that relate to the current exhibition, as well as how her team first uncovered these trends. more

Interior design workshop - 8 May 2010

This is an ideal taster session for anyone with a penchant for interior design. It will be led by interior designer Daniel Hopwood, one of the presenters of Britain's Best Home on Channel 4, who is renowned for his glamorous, high end homes as well as work in the capital's top restaurant and boutique hotels.

The workshop will provide an overview of design principles and explore the importance of colour and mood. Under Daniel's expert guidance participants will then be encouraged to create their own mood board to take home with them.

Participants should bring along a photograph and if possible a sketch plan of a room they want to decorate. more

Customise your own pashmina - 22 May 2010

Many of Candice Wren's beautifully customised clothes have been for sale in the Shop@FTM but this is your opportunity to pick up some her tips and ideas and end up with a beautifully embellished and totally unique pashmina you won't see anyone else with! Pashminas will be supplied in a range of colours and prints and you will get the opportunity to customise them to reflect your own style. more
