Saturday 25 August / 10.30am – 4.30pm
Spend a day creating decorative collages under the expert hand of Sarah Campbell.
Participants will start by playing with techniques and will discuss how to consider shape, colour, form and motifs. Acclaimed designer Sarah Campbell will lead the small group (maximum 10 participants) through understanding composition, colour balance and tonal contrast. Students will be encouraged to consider colour harmonies and spend time experimenting with paper cutting and folding techniques.
People of all abilities and skill levels are welcome and there’ll be no pressure to produce finished work – it’s a day to enjoy an inspiring time and to learn and practise new skills to take home. There will also be an opportunity to take tea with Sarah and discuss her approach to design and some of her career highlights. All materials will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own papers, recycled materials and sketchbooks too.
Sarah Campbell Ltd undertakes a wide range of projects from one-off design creations, unique pieces and commissions to textile and surface design for the high street. Her continuing collaboration with West Elm, the US homewares company, gives a worldwide presence, as do the growing fabric collections with Michael Miller Fabrics. Nearer home, new work includes developing the Sarah Campbell Designs brand into fabrics, wallpapers and ribbons, expanding teaching commitments, and working on new book ideas. Meanwhile she continues to write a diverting blog.
