Wednesday 8 August / 10:30am–4:30pm
Metallic Foiling and Fusing Materials
In this one-day workshop students will experiment using a heat press by foiling and fusing materials. Towards the end of the workshop printers will also have the opportunity to transform an old item of clothing using the textile foiling technique. Tutor Nicole Line will guide participants through the equipment and provide demonstrations in how to foil and combine materials.
The morning will be spent doing a range of experimental drawing and mark making techniques. You will then begin to draw and design your ideas taking inspiration from the current exhibition or your own projects. In the afternoon participants will experiment with printing textile metallic foils onto fabric samples.
If you have time and the materials to do so, have a go at making your own stencils at home so that you can spend more time foiling your designs. We recommend you use thin acetate sheets to make the stencils, keep it simple and keep it A4 size. Avoid making your stencils from paper.
Beginners welcome and for those who are curious about textiles processes and mark making. A5 size materials will be provided for you to sample onto. Please bring along your own final pieces to transform.

I see the students I teach as an extension of my practice and it’s exciting to see how they use materials within their own work. nicolelineworkshops.com
