For those working in the fashion industry, the ability to research and understand trends is essential. Join leading fashion forecasting experts to learn how to identify and stay ahead of the trends.
Whether you’re a student, a new graduate or a seasoned professional in the world of fashion, it is crucial to understand the flow from research and inspiration to final ideas and products. In this fascinating talk, Gwyneth Holland and Rae Jones explain the journey from forecasting basics, through to developing trends across whole collections and sectors. They identify the industry names to note, the influencers to watch and the ways to harness their power. This highly illustrated talk will provide an accessible and invaluable practical guide for trendsetters and trend forecasters alike. The talk is based on the new publication Fashion Trend Forecasting (2017) published by Laurence King and available for purchase from the Fashion and Textile Museum exhibition shop.

Gwyneth Holland has worked for leading trend agencies such as WGSN. She now consults for a broad range of blue-chip clients and teaches at the University of Westminster.

Rae Jones is a footwear and accessories specialist who has worked at WGSN and now contributes to trend organizations around the world. She runs an accessories brand, Buckitt, and also teaches at the University of Westminster.

This talk and evening viewing of The World of Anna Sui exhibition starts at 6pm with a glass of wine in the Museum foyer. The talk starts at 6.15pm for 6.20pm in the Fashion Studio and lasts for approximately one hour including an opportunity to ask questions. It is followed by a book signing. Ticket includes admission to the exhibition and guests are welcome to view this before or after the talk.
