Year 2 HND: Mon 30 Sept 2013 – Thurs 22 May 2014

Love fashion, style and making clothes? With core studies of creative garment design and professional practice plus pathways in tailoring, pattern cutting and costume production, the Higher National Certificate / Diploma (HNC/D) in Tailoring and Advanced Garment Construction will enable you to develop the high standard of practical and technical skills needed by the sector.

The resurgence of British tailoring in recent years, the growth of luxury brands and the high profile of London’s Savile Row has created increased demand for tailoring and advanced garment construction skills. This new HNC/D, delivered by the Fashion and Textile Museum and Newham University Centre – the higher education faculty of Newham College London that owns the Museum – will equip you with the industry knowledge and understanding needed for successful employment. Newham College runs highly successful tailoring programmes in partnership with Savile Row companies, and many ex-students now work in prestigious tailoring and fashion companies. The course will be delivered in industry-standard production workshops on the East Ham Campus.

On successful completion of this course you will be awarded the BTEC HNC/D in Fashion and Textiles qualification.

HNC/HND – level 4 and 5 Higher National Certificates and Diplomas are vocationally focused higher education qualifications that are designed specifically to provide a skills/career-based qualification. The Certificate is studied at level 4 and Diploma at level 5.
