Advanced Photoshop for Fashion and Textile Designers - Level 3

5 July 2008

To be confirmed.

Is the course for me?
This is a short professional course for fashion and textile designers who wish to develop CAD/CAM skills to support their own career development in the sector.

The course has been developed by ZiP (the brand name for Newham College’s fashion and textiles courses) to meet the skills needs of the sector.

What does the course involve?

The course introduces advanced techniques in applying Photoshop, and includes scanning, creating clipping paths and masks, re-touching and cropping, applying colour, texture and patterns, and creating new designs and images.  You will use your own original drawings and photographs as source material to produce a CD of advanced Photoshop work. The course is delivered through demonstrations and practical exercises, with a high level of tutor support and regular review of your progress.

You will receive a course handbook and scheme of work at the start of the course, but please enquire if you need more details about the course content before application.

What options are open to me if I successfully complete the course?
This course will help you develop skills of immediate commercial relevance. To develop your skills further, you may also find it useful to take the Advanced Photoshop and Illustrator course, or other ZiP courses such as Illustrator, Lectra Kaledo Style or Trend and Fashion Forecasting – a wide range of specialist courses are available.

Please contact our Customer Support Centre for further details of the full range of ZiP courses.

What do I need to get on the course?
You do not need particular academic qualifications to be eligible for the course, but you need to be focused on a career in the sector and to have previous experience using Photoshop software.

How long is the course and when does it start?
The course takes place at the Fashion and Textile Museum SE1 at the following times:
Saturday 10am-3pm 5th July – 2nd August 08 (five classes)

How much will the course cost?
The UK/EU home student fee is £89. If you are not eligible for the home student fee you will be charged the overseas fee.  UK/EU nationals who are unemployed or in receipt of benefits may be eligible for fee remission – please enquire. You will also need to bring a CD to store your work.
