Photoshop for Fashion and Textile Designers - Level 2

22 April 2008

Is the course for me?
This is a short professional course for fashion and textile designers who wish to develop CAD/CAM skills to support their own career development in the sector.

The course has been developed by ZiP (the brand name for Newham College’s fashion and textiles courses) to meet the skills needs of the sector.

What does the course involve?
The course is focused on the needs of fashion and textile designers, and introduces the main functions of Photoshop, including toolbox and palette controls, scanning, image re-touching, colouor correction, selection and layers, filters, design and illustration manipulation. The course is delivered through demonstrations and practical exercises, with a high level of tutor support and regular review of your progress.

You will receive a course handbook and scheme of work at the start of the course, but please enquire if you need more details about the course content before application.

What options are open to me if I successfully complete the course?
This course will help you develop skills of immediate commercial relevance. To develop your skills further, you may also find it useful to take the Advanced Photoshop course, or other ZiP courses such as Illustrator, Lectra Kaledo Style or Trend and Fashion Forecasting – a wide range of specialist courses are available.

Please contact our Customer Support Centre for further details of the full range of ZiP courses.

What do I need to get on the course?
You do not need particular academic qualifications to be eligible for the course, but you need to be focused on a career in the sector and to have basic computer skills.

How long is the course and when does it start?
The course takes place at the Fashion and Textile Museum SE1 at the following times:
Tuesday 6.30-9pm 22nd April – 10th June 08 (eight classes)
Saturday 10am-3pm 31st May – 28th June 08 (five classes)
