Recycle, Reuse, Remake Workshop

Date: 16 July 2011

Saturday, 10am - 1pm

Everyone has probably got a box of old buttons or a number of odd socks and gloves that have lost their partners or a few remnants of fabric that are just calling out to be made into something useful. This course offers a practical hands-on session to sew and make unique items from recycling unwanted fabric materials - turn those odd socks into mobile phone covers, single gloves into cuddly pet toys, incorporate scraps of materials into jewellery items, refashion old scarves and belts into updated accessories, furnishing remnants into applique motifs for fancy dress or theme costumes. Requires only basic sewing or machining skills and instruction can be given to total beginners. Reuse, repair, recycle, renew!

Educator Christine Giles has over 30 years experience working with costume and craft to create new and creative ways of reworking old and unwanted items; having fun whilst addressing green issues and sustainability.

Cost: £40 including materials and refreshments
