ARTISTSí TEXTILES - Talk and Book Launch

Date: 30 May 2012

Wednesday, 6pm

Learn how Picasso, Dalí, Matisse, Moore, Steinberg, Nicholson, Warhol, and many other artists, helped develop textiles as a major 20th century art form after the Second World War. On the eve of the publication of a ground-breaking new survey, join authors Geoffrey Rayner, Richard Chamberlain and Annamarie Stapleton to learn why the collaboration between artists and textile manufacturers between 1940 and 1976 is unrivalled in modern art history.

Authors Geoffrey Rayner, Richard Chamberlain and Annamarie Stapleton will discuss examples of British and American textile art selected from over 200 examples which appear in the new book Artists' Textiles: Artist Designed Textiles 1940-1976 (Antique Collectors’ Club, June 2012).

Price: £20 / £15 students, includes entry to a private reception at the Museum to celebrate the launch of Artists’ Textiles after the talk
