The grand opening of the Fashion and Textile Museum took place on Thursday 8th May with a glamorous event hosted by founder Zandra Rhodes. The official opening was carried out by the museum's Patron, Her Royal Highness Princess Michael of Kent who delighted in cutting an oversized gold bow to mark the occasion. See our FTM Grand Opening Slide Show for photos of the event.

The event was attended by the who's who of the fashion industry including designers: Julien MacDonald, Yohji Yamamoto, Gilles Rosier from Kenzo, Maria Grachvogel, John Rocha, Antonio Berardi, Sophia Kokosalaki, Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune, Hamish Bowles and Roland Mouret and additional stars such as Lady Caine.

After previewing the debut exhibition MY FAVOURITE DRESS, guests partied the night away dancing to DJ Martin and DJ Big Sam, drinking Veuve Clicquot Vintage Reserve 1996 champagne, enjoying canapés and oyster bar provided by Crown Special Event Caterers, chocolates from Godiva, Décor and giant pink poodles from AC Design and Production and flowers by Green House.

The party venue was provided by Owen Brown, who have built tent structures for London Fashion Week and the Chelsea Flower Show, and exquisite toilets were generously provided by IGLOOS, the UK's leading independent supplier of the ultimate luxury travelling loos for private and corporate events. There were goodie bags from TOPSHOP with gifts from L'Oreal and Burberry.
