Stafford Cliff, guest curator of the exhibition and editor of Sue Timney: Making Marks will be in conversation with Sue for this informal and informative talk. more

Christmas Shopping Evening - 2 December 2010

The FTM's Christmas shopping evening has become a bit of a seasonal fixture as it is a great opportunity to get in the festive spirit and get a 10% discount on some of the unique and lovely things that we showcase in the Shop@FTM. It is an ideal place to find those special little gifts as we support some of the best young design talent in the capital. It is free and includes a glass of wine and mince pie. more

Quilting Taster Workshop - 27 November 2010

Katherine May reinvents the traditional techniques of patchwork quilting to create beautiful, hand stitched quilts, and will be leading a number of special workshops at the FTM starting with this Taster Workshop. If you haven’t tried quilting before it can seem quite daunting so this taster-workshop is a must for those who want to try out quilting or just get their hand back in. Materials will be provided and an overview of techniques and approaches will help get you started – either to attend the more advanced workshop or to get you going in your own time. more

The Buyers Lounge - 24 November 2010

For members of the Hub@FTM - at this workshop our speaker Anna Baxter, buyer of branded product at asos.com, will give you top tips on how to secure an appointment to see your target buyers, what to prepare for a meeting and the best way to impress the buyer once given the opportunity to present your range. This workshop at the Fashion and Textile Museum is open exclusively to members of Hub@FTM. more

Clever Clutches Workshop - 20 November 2010

The envelope style flap clutch is an all time fashion favourite. This workshop is your chance to learn to make the simplest of clutches out of vintage inspired fabrics that can be adapted to any size - used day or night. The bag holds all your necessities, but you have to pack it well: blackberry/ phone, house keys and a lippy – perfect for the party season! more

Print a Pinnie - half-term workshops! - 28 October 2010

A great hands-on workshop for 7-11 year olds, inspired by our current exhibition. Budding designers will learn how to design their own block prints and decorate a vintage style apron, to take home with them. more

Draw like a Designer - half-term workshops! - 27 October 2010

Back due to popular demand - FTM curator Dennis Nothdruft leads another fashion drawing session for 11-14 year olds. This workshop will introduce young designers to the basics of creating a template and using it to illustrate their original designs. more

Make Do And Mend - 4 week course

Due to high demand we have scheduled another Make Do And Mend course to run over four Wednesdays, starting 29th Sept. Are you fed up not being able to take up a pair of trousers or alter something that just doesn’t quite fit? The skills many of our parents had have slowly died out but if you want to be able to learn how to extend the life of your clothes or make simple alterations with confidence, this is the course for you. more
