In this popular creative workshop, FTM curator Dennis Nothdruft will inspire budding illustrators and designers by helping to develop basic fashion illustration techniques. more

Textile design workshop - Clare Sly - 29 May 2010

A day to be inspired by Sanderson textiles and to create a design to decorate your own beautiful fabric which can be made into a scarf, cushion or bag. We will look at different design layouts, patterns, textures, techniques and use of colour to create something unique and wonderful. You will have the options of hand painting, machine embroidery, hand stitching and embellishing.

Please bring along any bits and bobs that you feel may be useful for this project and that will be interesting if you want to embellish your design. more

Customise your own pashmina - 22 May 2010

Many of Candice Wren's beautifully customised clothes have been for sale in the Shop@FTM but this is your opportunity to pick up some her tips and ideas and end up with a beautifully embellished and totally unique pashmina you won't see anyone else with! Pashminas will be supplied in a range of colours and prints and you will get the opportunity to customise them to reflect your own style. more

To Stay the Same Everything Must Change - interpreting and recreating decorative colour schemes in historic buildings - 14 May 2010

After starting his design career with Asprey, Christopher Vane Percy formed his own company, CVP Designs, in 1971 with projects ranging from private London houses to commercial assignments and numerous international commissions.

Christopher's attention to detail and respect for period architecture is renowned, so over the years he has been called upon to work on many prestigious and diverse projects, both at home and abroad. Come and join us for this fascinating insight into interior design in period homes. more

Interior design workshop with Daniel Hopwood - 8 May 2010

This is an ideal taster session for anyone with a penchant for interior design. It will be led by interior designer Daniel Hopwood, one of the presenters of Britain's Best Home on Channel 4, who is renowned for his glamorous, high end homes as well as work in the capital's top restaurant and boutique hotels.

The workshop will provide an overview of design principles and explore the importance of colour and mood. Under Daniel's expert guidance participants will then be encouraged to create their own mood board to take home with them.

Participants should bring along a photograph and if possible a sketch plan of a room they want to decorate. more

Advanced Handbag Design course - 24 April 2010

Even in the current economic climate, the accessories market is still a growth area. Many of the leading fashion design companies make more money from their accessory ranges than they do from their clothing and as new markets open up, this trend promises to increase. 

This course is for students who already have a basic knowledge of handbag design. Who have the ability to sketch their ideas and designs and may be  thinking of starting their own company. more

Tantalising Textiles - Textile printing workshop with Fiona Howard - 23 April 2010

This is a great opportunity to spend the day in the company of one of the UK's foremost textile designers and be guided through the key techniques that will help you produce your own special print. Fiona will take participants through the process from research and demonstration to then drawing your own design, tracing it onto lino and then cutting and printing it. There is also the opportunity for the design you make to be printed onto Sanderson fabric and made up into a cushion cover. more

Creative Corsage Workshop - 17 April 2010

Mary Jane Baxter has run a number of millinery workshops at the FTM - here she returns with a new twist on her skills to show you how to make a wonderful floral corsage. You'll learn different techniques for creating a show-stopping fabric accessory adorned with sequins and beads. Not only will it give a new lease of life to any outfit, it will ensure you're the belle of the ball! All materials will be provided, but if you wish to incorporate fabrics of your own then please bring them along to the workshop. more

Advanced Fashion Illustration for 12 - 16 year olds - 16 April 2010

This mixed ability course will provide an introduction to fashion drawing for those with no experience, while for those who want to take their fashion illustration to the next level, the workshop will explore more advanced techniques such as collage and painting techniques. more
