You are warmly invited to an evening of glamour and elegance at the Fashion and Textile Museum. We are thrilled once again to be hosting a fashion show in conjunction with London’s Revival Retro Boutique on the first Thursday Late of Night and Day: 1930s Fashion and Photographs exhibition. The Revival Retro team will be modelling their contemporary 1930s-inspired dresses with an exclusive salon style presentation. So join us in wearing your finest gown and bask in the glow of 1930s style!
The Revival Retro Boutique specialises in modern reproductions and reinterpretations of early 20th century fashions. Their models will be showcasing a selection of 1930s vintage inspired clothing during the evening (www.revival-retro.com).
Night and Day: 1930s Fashion and Photographs presents a careful selection of day and evening styles, exploring the decade that brought the excess of the 1920s to an end. Women’s clothing in the 1930s reflected the utilitarianism and rapid social change preceding World War II. From Paris and London to New York and Hollywood, the decade following the Great Crash of 1929 offered the modern woman a completely new style of dressing. As the flapper grew up, so did her fashions. The 1930s was the decade of new silhouettes with a harder edged chic to them, hugely influenced by Art Deco, Surrealist and Moderne styles, often showcased on the silver screen sirens of the day.
The Salon presentation will begin at 6:30pm and last around 20 minutes, standing room only.
