Join hairstyling experts the House of Drewvid in this 3-hour workshop and learn how to create styles inspired by your favourite Golden Age Hollywood icons at home.
In this practical hands-on workshop, David Dorling and Andrew Simonin will teach you how to style your own hair in a classic 1930s coiffure, personalized to suit your hair’s needs and drawing inspiration from the current exhibition Night and Day: 1930s Fashion and Photographs. You will be taken through basic setting techniques all the way through to finishing touches, with plenty of opportunity to discuss techniques, tips and tricks with Andrew and David. So whether you want to add a bit of extra style to your everyday look or want something special for New Year’s Eve, this is the perfect workshop for you.
All materials and equipment will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring along any products, brushes or tools you currently use to help enable you to recreate what you learn at home. This workshop is suitable for beginners or those looking to learn new skills.
David Dorling and husband Andrew Simonin are collectively known as the House of Drewvid and have combined experience of over 20 years in the British TV, film and theatre industry. Previous big screen credits include Florence Foster Jenkins, Madonna’s W.E. and the Star Wars sequels, as well as Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and Hairspray on the West End stage. In addition to their film work, the couple founded the House of Drewvid in 2009 offering a variety of cutting and styling services from their home studio as well as developing their own range of styling products.
Price: £95 includes a House of Drewvid pommade to take home, use of hairdressing equipment and exhibition entry.
