Saturday 25 January 2020 | 10:30am–4:30pm

£100 includes materials and exhibition entry | Book online

This one day workshop provides the opportunity to experimenting with sublimation printing using liquid disperse dyes and paper dyes. Printers will begin by using liquid Disperse dyes, which are applied to paper through screen printing, block printing or hand painting onto paper, then transferred onto fabric using a heat press. Colours can be layered and flat objects and stencils used as a resist. These dyes work best on synthetic fabrics such as; polyester suede, acetate satin, polyester sateen and polyester crepe de chine.

The second part of the workshop is focused on combining techniques and flocking over the sublimation prints created earlier. Flock is a velvet-like material that sits on textile surfaces, during this part of the workshop printers can paint and screen print with adhesive glue creating shapes and patterns, then heat pressing flock onto material. The flock technique can be applied to a range of surfaces, such as; silk, suede, leather, cotton and linen. By the end of the workshop printers will have a collection of A5-A3 screen printed fabric samples.

All materials will be provided, however participants are welcome to bring their own fabrics and stencils to use during the one day workshop. This workshop is suitable for teachers, designers, students and for those who are curious about design, no experience necessary, all abilaties welcome.
