Dates: Wed 28 February / Fri 16 March / Wed 25 April at 11:30am–4pm
This 1-day workshop will start with an introductory talk on dyeing techniques by tutor Michele after which participants will dye their own cotton tote bag, which will be left to bond with the dyes. The afternoon consists of experimenting with silk dyeing using instantaneous and low-tech techniques which can be fixed in a couple of minutes in a microwave. Participants will then reveal their finished cotton bag, T-shirt and silk experiments to the class. This is an introductory workshop ideal for those who want to learn basic techniques that can be used at home.
Michele is a textile artist specialising in natural dyes, spinning and fancy crochet techniques. She loves to work with colour and texture, and as a member of the West Essex & East Herts.
