Take inspiration from the Missoni exhibition, and see how knitwear is the ultimate fashion statement for every season. This 2-hour workshop will teach you the basics of knitting, and an insight into how knitting is proven to reduce stress, develop dexterity, inspire creativity and impart a sense of achievement.
Aimed at beginners, the class is intended to be a fun and friendly introduction that will give you a basic understanding of how to cast on, how to knit and purl, how to change colours, and how to cast-off. By the end of the session, you will be well on your way to completing a finished article with the confidence and know-how to use your new skill. Full instructions, a pair of knitting needles and yarn are provided. The class includes admission to the Missoni exhibition and is taught to a maximum of six participants, providing a high level of one-to-one attention.
Level: No previous experience is necessary. Suitable for ages 12 and upwards (or younger if accompanied by an adult).
Tutor Sandra Monks is expert at teaching knitting classes for beginners and improvers, and renowned for her patience. She has designed a large variety of knitting patterns and is the resident tutor at an independent haberdashery shop where she offers advice on knitting problems at all levels. A member of the Knitting and Crochet Guild, her favourite knitwear designer is Kaffe Fassett for his wonderful use of colour.
