Join Helen Jones from the Royal School of Needlework for this one day workshop and learn how to stitch this colourful motif inspired by the museum’s exhibition Weavers of the Clouds: Textile Arts of Peru.

Inspired by both historic and contemporary Peruvian costume, Helen has created this stunning motif using the vibrant colours and flowers associated with Peru. Students will learn how to stitch their own motif using a variety of hand embroidery stitches including long and short, arrowhead, braid stitch, cable chain, French knots and bullions. Student will be stitching on cotton poplin using colourful Perle threads.

Students should be able to complete most of the design during the class. All materials and instructions will be provided and will include your own embroidery kit which can be used to continue your embroidery at home.

The workshop is suitable for all levels from beginners to those looking to learn new stitches and techniques. More details about Helen Jones can be found here
