Join Tatty Devine co-founders Rosie Wolfenden and Harriet Vine for this Thursday evening talk, as they look back on twenty years of their irreverent, cult art jewellery. Riffing on themes of collaboration, creativity and craft, they will expand on the ethos behind the brand and how they have balanced being business savvy with their creative passion. They will also be discussing the curation of their book and exhibition, Misshapes: The Making of Tatty Devine.

After meeting at university and seeing a gap in the market for fun, well-made and affordable jewellery, their friendship blossomed into an iconic brand. The pair will shed light on how they went from selling pieces from a market stall to gracing the pages of Vogue and being stocked in major department stores within a year. With over 300 new jewellery designs created every year, all of Tatty Devine’s jewellery is still designed in-house and handmade in Britain.

Misshapes: The Making of Tatty Devine, published by Tatty Devine, £45, is a beautifully illustrated record of the story behind Tatty Devine and their contribution to British design over the last twenty years. The book takes an in-depth look at their techniques and influences, detailing over 100 pieces from their 5000 strong archive.

Rosie Wolfenden MBE and Harriet Vine MBE met while studying Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and founded Tatty Devine not long after graduating in 1999. After selling leather wristbands at both Spitalfields and Portobello markets, they established their first studio and shop on Brick Lane and were soon invited to show at London Fashion Week. Tatty Devine have gone on to collaborate with the likes of Tate, Barbican, The Design Museum, Museum of London, WWF, Craft Council, Peanuts among many others. They were awarded MBEs for their contribution to the fashion industry in 2013. Celebrating twenty years of Tatty Devine, MISSHAPES: The Making of Tatty Devine is touring across the country.
