As she celebrates 50 years in the business, legendary designer Tricia Guild will discuss her career, inspirations and passion for design with interiors expert and ELLE Decoration Editor Ben Spriggs. Hear how she developed Designers Guild into a global brand, renowned for colour, pattern and innovation from the small beginnings of a King’s Road showroom which opened in 1970.
Tricia Guild is the creative force of Designers Guild and has been at the forefront of interior design since starting the company in the early 70’s. Internationally renowned for her passion for colour, pattern and texture as well as her signature lifestyle brand and books, Tricia Guild has been setting the pace with her dynamic and innovative collections, instantly recognisable for her unique and contemporary style.
Ben Spriggs is the UK editor of ELLE Decoration, the world’s bestselling interiors magazine. With almost 20 years’ experience of lifestyle, interiors and design journalism, he has divided his career between newspapers and print magazines. Having held senior roles at The Sunday Times Style, The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph, Ben also worked on the UK launch of InStyle, Livingetc and edited Real Homes. He has spent much of the last ten years driving the ELLE Decoration brand in the UK and took over the editorship in July 2017. With an avid interest in contemporary design and décor and an unrivalled reputation, Ben also often gives talks, chairs discussions and acts as a spokesperson for the interiors industry.
Tricia will be on hand to sign her brand new, hot-off-the-press book, Out of the Blue: Fifty Years of Designers Guild, £30, published by ACC Art Books, the perfect accompaniment to the exhibition.

The event starts at 6pm with a glass of wine in the Museum foyer and opportunity to view the current exhibition. The talk follows at 6.15pm for 6.20pm in the Fashion Studio and lasts for approximately one hour including an opportunity to ask questions, followed by a book signing. Ticket includes admission to the exhibition and guests are welcome to view this before or after the talk.
