Tricia Guild in Conversation

Thursday 11 February | 6pm – 7:30pm | £5 | ONLINE EVENT

Join Head of Exhibitions, Dennis Nothdruft, for an intimate in conversation with acclaimed designer, Tricia Guild. In this rare opportunity, discover Tricia’s journey in developing Designers Guild from a small section of a single shop on Chelsea’s Kings Road in 1970, to the global enterprise it is today.

“I had always wanted to create a lifestyle - I was working as an interior designer and was utterly frustrated at the lack of exciting and interesting contemporary textiles. I felt I had something different to say and I was young and fearless and decided to give it a try”. – Tricia Guild

Designers Guild’s products and design ethos have changed the way we view colour, pattern and texture in our homes. Throughout this candid discussion, Dennis and Tricia will explore both Tricia’s personal inspirations, achievements and advice as a designer and her challenges, successes and goals as a businesswoman. You’ll hear from Tricia, in her own words, what it takes to build and maintain the iconic brand that is Designers Guild.

Tricia Guild O.B.E is the creative force of Designers Guild and has been at the forefront of interior design since starting the company in the early 70’s. Internationally renowned for her passion for colour, pattern and texture as well as her signature lifestyle brand and books, Tricia Guild has been setting the pace with her dynamic and innovative collections, instantly recognisable for her unique and contemporary style.

Dennis Nothdruft is Head of Exhibitions at the Fashion and Textile Museum. He has led the exhibitions team at the Museum since it was founded by Zandra in 2003 and previously spent many years working as a design assistant in Zandra Rhodes studios in both San Diego and London.

The book, Out of the Blue: Fifty Years of Designers Guild, published to accompany the exhibition, is now available to buy from our online shop at the sale price of £15! Copies signed by Tricia Guild are also available for £35.
