Take colour inspiration from the current exhibition Swinging London: A Lifestyle Revolution and learn a traditional skill on this two day tapestry workshop concentrating on colour.
Led by master weaver Caron Penney this colourful two day tapestry weaving workshop will develop an enquiry into colour theory and implement this learning via weaving. Participants will work with primary, secondary and tertiary colours and will be encouraged to use blending to achieve subtle transparent effects, seeing one colour appear through another. The group will learn how to warp a tapestry frame provided by the tutor and by the end of the workshop participants will take home a completed tapestry.

- How to create overlay effects
- How to create shapes and sew slits up
Beginner – Intermediate Level class
This class is suitable for beginners and those with some basic weaving experience to more experienced weavers.
Caron Penney is a master weaver and founder of Weftfaced, a small atelier in the heart of Sussex keeping the craft of hand woven tapestry thriving. Established in 2013 by Caron Penney the workshop has been making tapestries to commission for artists from British abstract painter, Gillian Ayres RA to the artist and musician Martin Creed. Weftfaced stands for quality, individuality and exquisitely crafted textiles which offer longevity and uniqueness. Penney trained at Middlesex University and coupled this with twenty years’ experience at the West Dean Tapestry Studio.
