Knitting inspired by Sonia Delaunay

Wednesdays, 23 April – 14 May / 6.30–9pm

4-week evening course / Intermediate Level
This 4-week intermediate level workshop is for those who already have an understanding and experience of the basic knitting stitches - knit and purl and would like to take these basic skills to the next level and learn some new knitting techniques. Students will be able to choose from two shawl projects. Using basic knitting skills participants will learn how to:

  • add and change a new colour yarn
  • secure yarns for a neat finish on both sides of the fabric
  • increase and decrease stitches while knitting
  • read and create from a graphic design and pattern

The two images on this website are of the two projects offered - a cocoon shawl or basic shawl, both are knitted in cotton yarns, but you have the option to use wool if you prefer. By the end of this fun and sociable workshop you will finally complete and proudly wear a unique shawl design.

Price: £140
Participants will need to buy or bring their own knitting yarns and needles to create the actual scarf project. Guidance on needle sizes and yarns will be provided in advance. Basic knitting needles and yarns will be provided for participants to practice with.
