Want to be a curator? Join the new Museum Studies Curating course to gain a practical introduction to curating fashion and textile exhibitions. For two weeks in January, the Fashion and Textile Museum is offering behind-the-scenes access to its staff, collections and expertise. If you are interested in a career curating fashion and textile displays, and want to increase your knowledge of the skills and work involved, this course is for you.

The course consists of the following ten modules:

  • The Fashion and Textile Museum issues and ideas
  • Museum Management
  • Curating Exhibitions
  • Exhibition Research and Planning
  • Exhibition Display
  • Exhibition Proposal
  • Curatorial Thinking and Writing
  • Cultural Enterprise
  • Communication
  • Evaluation

You will learn through lectures, demonstration and research, and by presentation and evaluation of your work. You will learn in a small group, with a high level of mentoring, teaching and support. Teaching emphasises a practical approach, dealing with the real environment and exhibitions programme of the Fashion and Textile Museum.

You will gain an Open College Network (OCN) Eastern Region qualification on successful completion of the course.
