Beginner Level / 3-day Course

Adobe Photoshop is the leading software for image editing. This new beginner’s course will introduce you to an array of tools and techniques to improve your photographs and ready them for different outputs such as print, web or other design applications. Students will learn a number of non-destructive techniques, such as adjustments and retouching tools, layering and collaging and some special effects editing to enhance your images and create improved end results.
- Introduction to interface and workspaces
- Fundamentals of a digital image
- Image alterations e.g. cropping, straightening, rotating
- Retouching images
- Image Adjustments and B&W conversions (non-destructive)
- Layers and Layer Masks
- Selecting and Masking
- Collaging images
- Special Effects & Filters
- Preparing and saving images for different outputs
For beginners or those that have a basic knowledge of Photoshop, this course is suitable for students, tutors or anyone interested in improving their computer image editing skills and learning relevant techniques in Photoshop. Participants are required to have basic computer skills. Please bring a selection of your photography to work from, a pen, notebook and USB stick to save your work. The tutor will also provide images on which to practice on.
Our short courses are a great value way to learn essential design software. Courses take place in the museum’s IT suite and taught by our team of highly experienced tutors. Tuition is in small groups with a focus on your particular learning requirements. The Fashion and Textile Museum is part of Newham College London.
