Professional presentation of your work is essential in conveying your brand and product range.

Flats are the essential tool for communicating the specifications (shape, size, colour, fabric, details, and style lines) necessary to be able to create a pattern and construct your garments. This course will teach you to produce clear and concise illustrations that are expected as a standard in the fashion industry.

Over two days you will be given a basic introduction to the industry standard software Adobe Illustrator. Participants will learn how to draw flats from scratch and use scanned images to create basic flat drawings using a variety of techniques. The course will be covering basic tools such as the Path Tool, Brushes and different fill options to create a professional flat drawing for your portfolio and collections.

Day 1: Introduction to Illustrator interface and workings, setting up art boards, Pen Tool and relevant related techniques

Day 2:
 Pen Tool continued, Brush Tools, Pattern and Colour Fills, Technical Drawing Extras, Layers and final output techniques

This course is suitable for beginners or those that have a basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator. All participants are required to have basic computer skills. Please bring a pen, notebook and USB stick to save your work. You are also welcome to bring your own scanned fashion illustrations.
