Fashion Futures 1 - schools fashion design course for Year 10 students

27 April 2010

Monday 17th - Thursday 20th May 2010

To coincide with our exhibition celebrating 150 years of Sanderson Interiors, the Fashion and Textile Museum will be working with creative charity Fashion Awareness Direct to run a week of fashion workshops for Year 10 students from schools in and around London.

The workshops will be led by experienced professional fashion tutors. Students will learn about the whole fashion design process - from initial research to illustration, customisation and sewing a final garment - and will have the opportunity to style and present their outfits in a photoshoot and catwalk show.

Students will find out about courses and careers in fashion, and also meet designers, stylists and make-up artists who will pass on professional fashion industry advice.

Students who attend all workshops and complete the tasks set will gain a qualification accredited by the Open Colleges Network through Newham College.

FAD Fashion Futures 1 is ideal for creative Year 10 students who are seeking to find out more about courses at UK fashion colleges and careers in fashion.

The fee for participating in the workshop is £300 per student.

"The best thing about the course was being able to create garments independently, with help from people with experience"
