Led by Zandra Rhodes’ pattern maker Michelle Lewis, this workshop focuses on building upon the skills taught in the introductory sessions. Using womenswear fashion blocks, you will be taught to use dart manipulations to create princess lines and other style components to develop your own skirt and blouse designs.
Demonstrations will use size 10 fashion blocks, but other standard sizes will be available to work with.
Suitability and Requirements:
This workshop is suitable for those who have basic pattern cutting skills and wish to develop and experiment with more complex garment styles. All participants must have basic sewing machine skills.
Equipment: Calico and specialist equipment is provided. You will need to bring metric tape measure, fabric shears, paper shears, fine steel pins, fine pointed tracing wheel, pencils (hb), felt tip pen (or magic).
Michelle Lewis has worked as a pattern cutter and designer in the UK and Australia. She is currently creative pattern cutter for the Zandra Rhodes Studio and previously ran her own label OK Carnivale.
