Fashion and Textile Museum reopens its doors for party season

5 November 2007

The FTM, founded by Zandra Rhodes, is being redeveloped by Newham College as an up to the minute education, exhibition and visitor centre for contemporary fashion, textiles and jewellery.  The redevelopment of the centre is due for completion in December 2007 with the first public exhibition scheduled for February 2008.

Designed by Mexican architect, Ricardo Legoretta, the FTM is a remarkable building which is colourful and attention demanding both inside and out.   Only 10 minutes walk from London Bridge Station in an area easily accessible by taxi and served by numerous buses, the FTM offers a different location in a lively and trendy part of town.

The following FTM spaces are available for hire

The Grand Gallery, a high-ceilinged space equipped with a full lighting rig and enough room for a large conference table or a good sized stage. The space can accommodate up to 160 guests for receptions, 150 guests for dinner and 120 guests for seated presentations or conferences. Adjacent to the Grand Reception area is the
Conference Suite, which is ideal for meetings and presentations for up to 16 people.

A ramp takes visitors to the Long Gallery on mezzanine level which is an ideal spot for seminars and workshops with a capacity of up to 100 seated guests.

Next door is the Learning Suite, ideal for ‘break out’ sessions, brainstorming and intensive seminars. Set away from the rest of the building, it is equipped with broadband-ready PCs and a conference table and can accommodate up to 50 guests in theatre-style seating.
