Since the 1960s John Smedley Ltd has evolved from a hosiery company to a high fashion brand. Hear more about the key values of this historic British company, including fashion knitwear collaborations with designers Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, Comme des Garçons, Nicole Farhi, Margaret Howell and Katherine Hamnett. With a selection of key garments from the archive, the company’s historian describes how a company that began in 1784 has managed to innovate and survive for over 200 years. The talk is illustrated by a host of images and archive material, and will be accompanied by an evening viewing of the KNITWEAR Chanel to Westwood exhibition and exclusive drinks reception.
