In this 1-day workshop led by the Museum’s pattern cutting tutor and creative pattern maker Michelle Lewis, learn the skills used by couture fashion houses to copy elements of historical garments without the need to pull them apart.

In this one day Screen Printing workshop printers will experiment with a range of textile inks such as printing with specialist binders, puff, metallic and pearl onto fabric.

Pattern Cutting Introduction | 2-day Saturday workshop

Saturdays, 7 and 14 March | 10:45am – 4:30pm

Led by creative pattern maker Michelle Lewis participants will cover the basic rules of flat pattern cutting. The 2-day course focuses on using fashion blocks to create womenswear garment components including simple sleeves and skirts. This process will include bodice dart manipulations, style lines and how to add fullness through gathers and pleats.

Decorative Collage with Sarah Campbell

Thursday 12 March | 10:45am–4:30pm

Spend a day creating decorative collages under the expert hand of Sarah Campbell. Sarah will show samples of her own folded and collaged pieces; participants will start by exploring techniques and will discuss how to consider shape, colour, texture and form.
